Barrel Form, 2007
Liam Flynn
NMIDF: 2008.5
This barrel formed vessel was designed and made by woodturner Liam Flynn for the Ecology, Mythology, Technology, Craft Council of Ireland exhibition, Kilkenny, October 2007 which then travelled to Farmleigh Gallery, Dublin, Summer 2008. Flynn is self-taught, coming from a long history of woodworking. He refuses to let the grain of the wood dictate the line of the vessel, as most of the vessels are either ebonised of fumed.
