Peadar Lamb
Peadar Lamb makes one-off architectural stained glass panels and light boxes for exhibition. The son of painter Charles Lamb and great great grandson of pre-raphaelite painter Ford Madox Brown, Lamb’s heritage plays an important role in his practice. He combines traditional techniques, little changed over the centuries, with a contemporary aesthetic, to produce unique and colourful pieces.
In his current body of work, Lamb uses acid-etching, painting and staining on handmade glass. He aims to disguise the complexity of composition and technique in his work in order to create pieces of simplicity and purity. Taking the aspect and light conditions of a site into account before commencing work on a commission, Lamb believes that a finished piece will enhance and transform the new space in which it is installed.
Lamb was born in Dublin in 1966. He attended Dún Laoghaire College of Art and Design from 1984-5, and went on to study at the National College of Art and Design, graduating in 1988. After completing further studies in the UK, Lamb returned to Ireland to set up his own studio.
