Yvonne Beale creates innovative jewellery and accessories in crochet and knitting, influenced by the design and couture of the 1940s. She inherited her lifelong love of knitting and crochet from her family, having learnt the skills as a child from her mother and grandmother. As a teenager, Beale began creating her own knit designs for family and friends.
Beale’s work combines traditional techniques and stitches with non-traditional materials such as leather and chains. Her current Corium collection, produced jointly with designer Filip Vanas, brings together crocheted leather and silver in a series of art-deco influenced statement pieces including cufflinks, neckpieces, bracelets and rings.
Beale studied at the Grafton Academy of Design, Dublin finishing in 1999. She started her own bespoke knitwear business shortly afterwards. She currently lives and works in Dublin.
