Fumed Burr Oak Vessel, 2011
Emmet Kane
DF: 2011.8
Fumed Irish burr oak vessel with texture and iridescent blue colour by Emmet Kane. Kane works from his workshop in County Kildare where he comes from five generations of Master Carpenters. He sources most of his own timber locally, primarily creating one-off pieces, particularly hollow forms with textured or ebonised finishes. Recently he has introduced precious and semi-precious materials namely gold-leaf, platinum and copper. This piece was commissioned especially for the NMI collections.
