Group of Eight Woodturned Objects, 2012
Earl Allgrove
NMIDF: 2012.1 – 2012.8
A grouping of eight woodturned pieces by Allgrove, six miniature goblets, a vase and a tiny bowl (vase and bowl not shown in image). His vase is reminiscent of Art Nouveau vase ware with sinuous lines and organic forms. It is astounding to think that he turned these tiny objects from one single piece of wood without breaking them. The drama of the pieces is enhanced by displaying them in glass bell-jars. The intricacy of Allgrove’s decorative work is highly unusual and a welcome addition to the collection.
